Sarah & Bernardo’s Enchanted Garden Themed Wedding at Botanica
Sarah and Bernardo’s enchanted garden themed wedding was the result of perfect timing, deep friendships, and a whole lot of heart. Sarah’s best friend Corey married Bernardo’s sister, Gabriella, and Corey spotted the sparks almost immediately. He created opportunities for them to spend time together because he thought there was something there, and he was right. By the time Corey and Gabriella married, Sarah and Bernardo were already very much a couple.
Sarah and I went to the same high school, though we didn’t really cross paths until years later when we reconnected on social media. When Corey and Gabriella were planning their wedding, Sarah suggested they reach out to me, and it ended up being a great fit. So when it was finally Sarah and Bernardo’s turn to get married, I was incredibly honored that they came back to me.
Their wedding took place in October at Botanica in Oceanside. My team and I, including a second photographer, a videographer, and an assistant, documented their day from getting ready through the reception. Sarah and Bernardo were an absolute dream to work with. They were relaxed, communicative, and clearly excited to make the day meaningful for each other and their guests. Photographing at Botanica again was a joy. The garden paths, soft October light, and the supportive coordinator from Trademark Venues made the day flow effortlessly.

An Enchanted Garden Themed Wedding Filled With Meaning
Choosing Botanica made perfect sense for Sarah and Bernardo. Although they now live in the Bay Area, they wanted to have a San Diego wedding to be closer to family and friends. They were drawn to the venue’s natural beauty and lush greenery, which became the foundation of their enchanted garden themed wedding.
Before the ceremony, the couple shared a touching First Touch, setting an emotional tone for the day. Bernardo’s mother opened the ceremony with a live a cappella performance of Ave Maria, adding a personal touch. In a full circle twist, Corey officiated the ceremony, which felt especially fitting since Bernardo had officiated Corey’s wedding to Bernardo’s sister years earlier.
The wedding décor balanced romance and structure beautifully. A geometric arch draped in navy and white fabric sat beside a lily pond, framed by florals in ivory, soft blue, and greenery. Under the reception tent, string lights, greenery, and a chandelier created an intimate glow. The celestial-inspired details reflected Sarah and Bernardo’s love for clean design and subtle whimsy.

Music, Surprises, and a Packed Dance Floor
Music played a huge role throughout the day. Bernardo’s love of video games inspired surprise musical cues during the ceremony, which delighted guests. Later, Sarah planned a live performance by close friends, then surprised everyone (especially Bernardo) by joining on vocals herself. The energy never dipped. They changed into traditional Vietnamese áo dài for table photos, honoring heritage, then returned in fun nightwear for a grand re-entrance to Tennessee Whiskey.
From a playful Newlywed Game to a private last dance and bubble send-off complete with cardboard cutouts of their cats, this enchanted garden themed wedding felt deeply personal from start to finish. Congratulations, Sarah and Bernardo. Your wedding was joyful, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
