Capture Your Family As They Look Right Now

INQUIRE

The Right Moment Is Already Here

Families change fast. It might be something small, like a missing tooth or a few new inches since last year. Or it might be something bigger, like a new sibling on the way or a move across the country. Either way, your family already looks a little different than it did the last time you took photos together.

Whether it's been six months or six years since your last session, this is what your family looks like today.

That's worth having.

I'll guide you through the details, styling, and location, so the day feels easy and the photos feel like you.

How we go from “nice to meet you” to

The San Diego Family Portrait Experience

|

03. The Keepsake Design

Something to actually hold.

We sit down together and design your printed artwork from the finished gallery. This appointment is on the calendar before the session even happens, so you're never left wondering what's next.

02. The Portrait Session

Free to be completely themselves.

We move through the full group, the kids together, each kid on their own, you with your partner, so every combination gets covered without it feeling like a checklist. The pace follows your family's energy, not a shot list.

01. The Planning Call

Feel ready, not overwhelmed

Before the session, we talk through who's included, locations, styling, and anything specific to your family, nap schedules, ages, anyone who needs a little extra patience. Nothing gets figured out on the fly.

The Experience & Investment

Every collection includes your guided session and a piece to keep — printed artwork, a custom album, or both — so what you walk away with is something finished, not just a folder of files.

Collections begin at $500

Every family's needs look a little different: group size, ages, how many combinations you want captured, and more. The best next step is a quick call where we'll figure out what fits.

I’m Paul Cooper, the photographer behind PMC Photography.

Behind the Lens

Families give me more to notice than almost any other session I shoot. In a single afternoon, I catch old habits, inside jokes, the specific way you all fit together as a unit — things you'd never think to point out because they're just normal to you.

That's why I stay closely involved throughout, from the planning call to designing your artwork together.

If this is the family you want to remember exactly as it is right now, I'd like to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our family sessions start at $500, which includes a guided session and a piece of physical artwork. The best next step is a quick call, since pricing depends on what you're looking for.

How much does a family session cost?

What if my kids won't cooperate during family photos?

That's completely normal, and it's not a problem. My priority is comfort and capturing memories. I'm not chasing perfect smiles on command. Some of the best photos happen in the moments between poses, when nobody's trying.

Most sessions run 30 to 90 minutes, depending on group size and how many combinations you want captured — full group, kids together, each parent-kid pairing, and so on.

How long does a family photo session take?

What should we wear for our family photos?

Coordinated colors that won't clash with each other or the background work best, not matching outfits. I'll send full styling guidance ahead of time based on your location and the season.

Yes, extended family and pets are both welcome. Let me know who's coming ahead of time so I can plan timing and locations to fit everyone comfortably.

Can grandparents or pets be included?

Can you photograph families with a wide age range of kids?

Yes — toddlers, elementary-age, and teens together is common, not a challenge. I build in time for individual shots and sibling groupings so no one's rushed and every age gets a moment that fits them.

We'll talk through what feels most like your family first — a favorite spot, somewhere outdoorsy, somewhere with meaning to you. Then I'll recommend a few locations that fit, including go-to spots around San Diego if you want ideas.

Where do sessions take place?

How long until we receive our photos?

Your gallery is ready within [X] weeks, and your keepsake design appointment is already on the calendar before the session even happens.
