Beach Senior Portraits with Lifelong Friends

2020 has been quite the rollercoaster, hasn’t it? We’ve all had to adjust our expectations, cancel plans, and find new ways to celebrate the special moments in life. But amidst all the chaos, there are still reminders of the power of friendship and the importance of capturing memories.
When COVID hit, so many plans were turned upside down. Weddings were postponed, schools moved to online learning, and grand graduation ceremonies were downsized. In the midst of all this, I realized that I had a chance to give back and create something truly special. I decided to offer free senior portrait sessions to local graduates who had missed out on so much.
This first session was something truly special. A parent reached out to me, wanting to create a cherished graduation day memory for her daughter and her two best friends. These three young souls had walked the journey from grade school to graduation and were practically joined at the hip. Mom wanted to mark this milestone in their lives with a unique, meaningful photoshoot.
We coordinated to have their photo session right after their graduation “ceremony,” which, due to COVID restrictions, was adapted into a car parade around Fiesta Island. When it came to choosing the perfect location for their beach senior portraits, the Ocean Beach Pier was the obvious choice. This spot was practically their second home, where they had shared countless laughs and created unforgettable memories. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as the beaches had just reopened the same week.
The session was short but filled with laughter and pure happiness. These amazing young women had many other plans to make their graduation day extra special, and I was honored to be a part of that journey. And the best part? The memories we captured will stay with them for a lifetime, reminding them of the strength of their friendship and the resilience they showed during a challenging time.
