Some engagement sessions feel good from the very beginning. Tumelo and Rashaad were one of those couples. They found me through Instagram, and from our first conversation, it was clear they knew exactly who they were and what they wanted. Like many modern couples, their story starts on Tinder. They matched, unmatched, and then matched again months later. Their first date was at Spark Social in San Francisco, though Rashaad made Tumelo wait two hours because his phone had died and he was mid-haircut. Eventually, Rashaad made up for it in a big way. He organized a Sip-and-Paint event at Cielo Rooftop and proposed right at sunset. Natural personality comes out when people aren’t overthinking it, and these two had plenty of it to work with. I also mixed natural light with off-camera flash to give them variety. Some images are warm and cinematic. Others are candid and full of movement. Together, they tell a fuller story of who Tumelo and Rashaad are as a couple.
