Hannah & Jericho | Golden Hour Photoshoot in Open Fields | San Diego

Hannah and Jericho’s Golden Hour Photoshoot at Sweetwater Bridge Trails

Hannah and Jericho’s golden hour photoshoot at Sweetwater Bridge Trails felt calm, natural, and easy from the start. We met through Instagram, but it didn’t take long to feel like we already knew each other. They first met through a mutual best friend at a music festival, and their story has that same sense of energy and connection. When Jericho proposed in Kauai during Hannah’s birthday trip, he had been casually setting up a tripod at every lookout. Eventually, at sunset on the beach, he asked the question. It was simple and thoughtful, and it fit them perfectly. Hannah is a Marriage and Family Therapist, and Jericho is a Physical Therapist, and you can feel that balance in how they show up together. She values his discipline and follow-through, and he deeply admires her compassion and emotional awareness.

A Hidden Gem for Engagement Photos in San Diego

Sweetwater Bridge Trails is one of those places that feels tucked away, even though it’s right here in East San Diego County. One of my past couples introduced me to it, and I’ve kept coming back ever since. The mix of open fields, winding trails, and mountain views gives us a lot to work with in a short amount of time. For Hannah and Jericho, it was the right fit. They wanted their photos to feel warm, playful, and full of love, and this location supports that without feeling overly styled.

As the light shifted, we moved between open fields and shaded areas under the trees. That contrast helped create variety without forcing anything. The golden hour photoshoot gave us soft, directional light that worked well for both cinematic portraits and more candid moments.

A Golden Hour Photoshoot That Feels Natural

Before the session, I spent time learning what they liked and what they didn’t. That way, nothing felt forced once we started. I guided them with simple prompts, then stepped back when the moment was there. That balance is where the best images tend to come from.

I also mixed in both natural light and off-camera flash. This allowed us to create a range of images that felt true to them. Some were soft and relaxed, others more refined and structured. Together, it gave their gallery a sense of depth without losing consistency.

Throughout the golden hour photoshoot, they stayed present with each other. That made everything easier. You could see the way they support each other in small moments, not just the big ones.

A Session That Reflects What Matters

By the end of the session, it felt like we had captured something honest. Not just how the day looked, but how it felt. That’s always the goal. Whether it’s an engagement session or a full San Diego wedding, the experience should feel steady and guided.
