Annie & Theo’s Gorgeous Wedding Ceremony Under Trees
Annie and Theo’s August wedding in San Marcos was the perfect blend of romance, laughter, and heartfelt tradition. These two are the kind of couple who radiate warmth and joy. They’re always laughing, always looking out for each other, and so grounded in their faith and love for their families. Their dreamy garden venue set the stage for a celebration that felt both timeless and deeply personal. From the emotional moments to the joyful energy, this was the kind of day that reminds me why I love being a Southern California wedding photographer.
Their wedding ceremony under trees took place on a sun-dappled lawn surrounded by nature and love. Towering branches swayed overhead, accompanied by the soft rustling of leaves and the distant birds, creating a moment of peace and intimacy. Annie and Theo infused their day with meaning and originality at every turn. It was a joy to witness how they made it truly their own.

A Garden Venue with Charm and Character
Green Gables Wedding Estate is a gem among San Diego wedding venues, known for its lush greenery and historic charm. Annie and Theo were immediately drawn to its peaceful ceremony site and the cozy, personality-filled getting-ready spaces. Annie spent the morning with her bridesmaids in the venue’s vintage schoolhouse, while Theo and his groomsmen prepped in the stylish speakeasy.
As a photographer who’s worked many weddings here, I loved being back on familiar ground. I know the venue well, including its best lighting pockets and hidden portrait spots. Plus, I have a great working relationship with the on-site coordinator. That experience really helped the day flow effortlessly.

A Sentimental Wedding Ceremony Under Trees
The ceremony itself was led by a family priest and centered around their shared faith. The setting was simple but stunning—a grassy lawn framed by towering trees that offered shade, breeze, and a bit of magic. Annie and Theo wanted a peaceful, outdoorsy feeling for their ceremony, and getting married under those trees felt perfectly aligned with their vision.
One of the most touching parts of the day was a special request from Theo. He had a photo with him, of his dad pointing a camera toward the lens with his best man beside him. He asked me to help him recreate the image as a heartfelt tribute to his late father. Afterward, he told me it felt like his dad was right there with him. It was a powerful reminder of how much legacy matters in wedding photography.

Bold Florals, Earthy Tones, and Emotional Dances
Annie and Theo leaned into a garden-inspired color palette that echoed the natural tones of the venue. The bridesmaids wore taupe, while Annie looked radiant in a simple, elegant gown that perfectly complemented the garden setting with its minimalist charm. Theo stood out in a sharp, custom green suit. His boutonnière held a small pin honoring his father. Their florals popped with sunflower accents (Annie’s favorite) and bursts of bold summer colors that brought so much energy to the design.
We captured portraits throughout the day—on the steps of the schoolhouse, under the canopy of trees, and wherever the light was softest. One standout moment was when Annie and Theo paused beneath a large oak, their foreheads touching as golden light filtered through the leaves.
The Parent Dances later that evening were especially beautiful. Annie shared a warm waltz with her dad that had everyone reaching for tissues. Theo followed with a dance with his mom, and the energy shifted—full of laughs, smiles, and playful spins as they twirled and boogied around the dancefloor to one of his father’s favorite songs. By the end of their dance, both of them were laughing so hard they nearly missed the final dip.

A Wedding Day Woven with Love and Legacy
Annie and Theo’s wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are—deeply connected to family, grounded in faith, and full of joy. From their wedding ceremony under trees to the vibrant florals and emotional parent dances, every detail felt thoughtful and intentional. Their day was filled with personal touches, meaningful moments, and so much love. It was the kind of summer celebration that reminds you why weddings matter—not just for the memories made, but for the legacies honored along the way. From the recreated photo of Theo’s father to the laughter shared during the Parent Dances, it was a day woven with both love and legacy.
