Jessie and Warren’s Fall Chateau Wedding in San Luis Obispo
Jessie and Warren’s chateau wedding felt like a fairytale. Their November wedding day turned out warmer and more golden than expected. It took place at Chateau Noland in San Luis Obispo, a venue built for this kind of storytelling. I covered their entire day, from the Chinese tea ceremony and getting ready through the last dance of the night. Their engagement session at Pasadena City Hall had come first, so by wedding day, we already felt like old friends. Jessie and Warren are easy people to be around. They laugh often, and they trust each other completely. That showed in every frame. The venue gave us no shortage of beautiful corners to work with, both inside and out.
A Dream Setting for a Chateau Wedding
Chateau Noland does not look like most Southern California venues. Its honey-toned stone walls and arched wooden doors feel closer to a European countryside estate. Tall cypress trees line the ceremony lawn, and a stone fountain anchors the garden. A wall of magenta bougainvillea added a perfect, unplanned burst of color. Once the sun went down, the same stone facade lit up in deep blue and amber, giving the property a different personality after dark.
A Chinese Tea Ceremony & a First Look on the Bridge
The day began with a Chinese tea ceremony, held to honor Warren’s family heritage. Jessie wore a traditional red and gold qipao for the occasion. The fitted silk gown was embroidered with gold florals and paired with stacked gold bangles. It was a quiet, meaningful start to the day, and one of my favorite parts to document.
Once Jessie changed into her wedding gown, she and Warren shared a first look on the property’s bridge. Including this moment gave us soft light and a little privacy before the day picked up speed. Jessie’s gown was a fitted mermaid silhouette with a lace bodice and an illusion-lace back. A full trumpet train and cathedral veil completed the look. Warren wore a classic navy three-piece suit, and their wedding party carried the same navy and dusty rose palette.
Portraits Around the Grounds & an Outdoor Ceremony and Reception
We captured bridal portraits inside the chateau’s bridal suite before heading to the bridge. From there, we wandered the grounds together. The stone architecture made a natural backdrop for portraits with the couple and their dog, who seemed just as thrilled to be there as everyone else. Their outdoor ceremony took place on the lawn, framed by ivory florals and greenery. As evening set in, their outdoor wedding reception carried that same easy, romantic feeling into the night.
Throughout the day, my job stayed simple. Capture everything, but also protect a few quiet moments for Jessie and Warren to just be together. A day like this moves fast, and those small pauses matter most.
