A Bilingual Mexican Wedding at VASA in North Park
Jennifer and Roberto’s August Mexican wedding at VASA in North Park was rooted in history, family, and joy. They have known each other since middle school. Later, they ended up at the same university. During those first weeks, Roberto struggled with being away from his family. Jennifer stayed close. Eventually, he asked her out. Six years later, they stood at the altar, still best friends. On weekends, they love trying new restaurants and spending quality time together.
I met them at a wedding expo, and from the start, they were warm and thoughtful. I provided full photo coverage, from getting ready through the reception. They trusted my guidance in shaping a timeline that allowed the day to breathe.

A Garden Ceremony Filled With Mexican Wedding Traditions
They chose VASA because they loved the outdoor garden space for their ceremony and cocktail hour. The aisle was lined with low clusters of ivory roses, hydrangeas, baby’s breath, and fresh greenery. Wooden cross-back chairs added warmth. Gold geometric frames framed the altar. Sunlight filtered through the hedges behind them.
To honor their guests, they held a bilingual ceremony in English and Spanish. They incorporated the lasso and coin traditions, both deeply meaningful parts of a Catholic Mexican wedding. When asked what they looked forward to most, they said, “Spending our special day with all the people we love.” Stormy, their sweet pup, was part of the wedding party, and she slept through the entire ceremony. It added charm and heart to an already personal day.

Romantic Wedding Attire and Portraits in the VASA Garden
Jennifer wore a fitted mermaid gown with layered floral appliqué lace. The sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder straps felt romantic and modern. The dramatic lace train photographed beautifully. She shared, “I loved my train and all the florals on it.”
Roberto wore a light beige three-piece suit with a dusty blue tie. The palette of ivory, beige, and soft blue felt perfect for an August San Diego wedding. The bridesmaids wore flowing dusty blue dresses. The groomsmen coordinated in beige suits. Altogether, the style felt cohesive, refined, and seasonally appropriate.
We took portraits in the outdoor garden area before heading inside. I guided them through elegant poses and natural moments. We balanced timeless portraiture with candid emotion. They were relaxed and fully present.

An Elegant Ballroom Reception at VASA in North Park
Inside, the ballroom transformed the atmosphere. It was my first time photographing at VASA, and I loved how elegant the ballroom felt. The sweetheart table featured a lush floral runner of ivory roses and hydrangeas. A custom white monogram dance floor anchored the room. Amber goblets, gold flatware, and blue napkins layered warmth and cohesion.
“We wanted all white flowers to give it a classic accent,” they told me. Their vision was “classic, elegant,” and VASA delivered beautifully. The reception design carried the same refined garden romance into a more structured, polished setting.
Mariachi played during cocktail hour, setting a celebratory tone. Later, sparklers lit their first dance. The money dance and La Vibora de la Mar brought everyone into the festivities. It was a joyful celebration that honored culture and family while keeping the energy high.
Jennifer and Roberto’s Mexican wedding was timeless and heartfelt. As a San Diego wedding photographer, these are the days I treasure. Congratulations to you both. Your story, your families, and your love made this celebration unforgettable.
