The land dates back to 1862, when the Magee family established it as a 1,200-acre cattle and agricultural homestead. Several outbuildings from that era, including the property's Red Barn, are still standing today.
In 1966, a 20-acre section at the top of the ridge was redeveloped into a private residence. A senior apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright designed the 6,000-square-foot main house in the shape of a cross, combining glass walls, handcrafted adobe brick, and an interior courtyard fountain. Bob and Lisa Biesterfeld bought the property in the mid-2000s and eventually converted it from a private retreat into the wedding venue couples book today, capping events at one wedding per weekend to keep the experience unhurried.
