Karla + Luis | Catholic Wedding Ceremony with a Golf Club Reception

From meeting at Walmart to a Catholic wedding ceremony, Karla and Luis’s love story is something out of a movie. They met years ago at Walmart, where Luis was Karla’s supervisor. At first, she wasn’t a fan. But with time and a little help from a friend, their friendship blossomed into something more. Fast forward to their wedding day, where I had the pleasure of capturing every heartfelt moment of their traditional Catholic ceremony at the iconic Immaculata Church at the University of San Diego. When I first met this incredible couple, we instantly vibed. They fell in love with my photography style and my customizable wedding albums at a Wedding Expo, and we knew we were a dream team from the start. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and I was thrilled to be part of their special day.

A Meaningful Catholic Wedding

At the heart of their day was the Catholic ceremony. It held particularly deep meaning for Luis, who had always dreamt of a Catholic wedding, given his devout family and strong ties to the church. Karla’s conversion to Catholicism paved the way for the realization of this dream. The Immaculata Church, with its rich history and striking architecture, provided the perfect backdrop for their sacred union. Their Catholic ceremony included the Mexican customs of the lasso and the coins, adding a beautiful cultural touch to their union. The ceremony was an expression of their commitment, faith, and love – a perfect start to a day filled with joy and celebration.

Karla looked radiant as she walked down the aisle in a dress inspired by Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Designed by Cocomelody, her gown featured a sweeping train and an elegant cathedral veil. Luis looked dashing in a custom-made navy blue suit that perfectly complemented their wedding colors of blue and white. The bridal bouquets, crafted by H&S Floral, accentuated those pops of blue and added a touch of romance to the scene.

A Magical Reception at The Heights Golf Club

Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Heights Golf Club. Here, the couple and I embraced the breathtaking photo opportunities the golf course offered. The Heights Golf Club not only provided a stunning venue but also provided catering, linens, decor, and a DJ. Karla and Luis were able to relax and enjoy their special day, knowing that they were in good hands.

Incorporating a Disney theme into their reception, each table was adorned with decor from a different Disney film, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The centerpieces showcased tokens from their respective movie, and the welcome table, inspired by Beauty and the Beast, invited everyone to “Be Our Guest.” One of the most heartwarming gestures from Karla and Luis was reserving a seat for me at one of their reception tables. They made me feel like more than just a vendor; they made me feel like a cherished friend.

Karla and Luis put their trust in me not just as their photographer but as their guide through this wonderful journey. They sought my advice on various aspects of their big day, from timing for portrait sessions to table photo dashes and family photos. Of course, I was more than happy to assist. Together, we created a wedding day timeline that ensured everything ran smoothly. In fact, they loved it so much that they shared it with their other vendors! It was a joy to see them so grateful for my help in coordinating their special day.
