Lisa + Michelle | A Terracotta Wedding for Two Brides | Vista

Two brides walk hand-in-hand on the front lawn in front of the main terracotta building at the historical Rancho Minerva Venue.

Set against the rustic charm of Rancho Minerva Historical Museum in Vista, California, Lisa and Michelle’s terracotta wedding was a vibrant celebration of love, family, and togetherness. Lisa and Michelle’s love story blossomed during the unique challenges of the pandemic. Their online encounter sparked an instant connection, weaving together their shared values of family and love for being active. Lisa’s calm nature perfectly complements Michelle’s Type A personality. Together, they’re a dynamic duo who adore family time, pickleball showdowns, and soaking up the sun at the beach. They toyed with the idea of eloping but ultimately decided that having their loved ones present was non-negotiable.

I first met Lisa and Michelle at the Bridal Bazaar Wedding Expo. They clicked with my personality, but what truly sealed the deal was a personalized video I sent them from my honeymoon in Mexico after they inquired through my website. It was a joy to document their wedding day with both photography and videography, ensuring not only their memories but also those of their guests were beautifully captured.

The Perfect Venue for a Terracotta Wedding

Lisa and Michelle were drawn to Rancho Minerva for its charming aesthetic that perfectly matched their vision. “We loved the rustic look and feel of the venue,” Michelle shared. “The lawn leading to the house, the wooden gates, and the grassy ceremony area fit our vision perfectly.” The space’s versatility allowed the couple to host distinct moments of their day without feeling overly spread out.

The venue’s ranch-style charm beautifully complemented their terracotta wedding theme. Vibrant summer florals adorned a stunning triangular wooden arch for the ceremony, while blood oranges, lemons, and greenery added pops of color to their tablescapes. The decor was the perfect blend of earthy and vibrant, bringing their vision of a summer rustic wedding to life.

Heartfelt Details and Unforgettable Moments

Lisa wore a bespoke tuxedo in a color that matched Michelle’s stunning Jana Ann Couture dress, which Michelle described as “love at first sight.” Handwritten vows in custom-made books captured their deep connection, while a touching First Look under a sprawling tree set the tone for an emotional day.

The ceremony was deeply personal, with a unique glass-blending ritual instead of the traditional sand-pouring. Guests were delighted by the DIY S’mores Bar at the reception and laughed along during a customized Newlywed Game with paddles featuring the couple’s faces. A choreographed First Dance showcased their playful and loving dynamic, earning cheers from everyone.

My team ensured every detail was captured. Before the wedding, we collaborated with their planner, Opal from This & That Events, and even scouted the venue. During cocktail hour, we provided professional portraits for their guests—a gesture Lisa and Michelle deeply valued.

As Lisa and Michelle embark on this new chapter of their lives, surrounded by love and laughter, we wish them a future filled with happiness and cherished memories. Their terracotta wedding at Rancho Minerva stands as a testament to their enduring love and the beauty of celebrating moments that reflect their unique bond.
